Tilak Ceremony
The bride's family visits the groom's house, applies tilak to the groom's forehead, and offers gifts, sweets, and clothes as a ceremonial sign of respect and acceptance.
वधू पक्ष के लोग वर के घर आते हैं, उसके मस्तक पर तिलक लगाते हैं, और सम्मान तथा स्वीकृति के रूप में उपहार, मिठाई और वस्त्र अर्पित करते हैं।
Purpose
To formally acknowledge the groom and honor him before the marriage proceeds further.
Who Performs It
Usually the bride's father or senior relatives, with blessings from both families.
Items Used
Kumkum, rice, sweets, coconut, clothes, garlands, and sometimes gifts.
Symbolism
Honor, welcome, and visible acceptance of the upcoming alliance.
